Proficiency explained

Proficiency data is an in-depth report, illustrating what level a student is working at. It will show when the student mastered each skill, the steps involved, and the standards/curriculum correlations.

How to view proficiency data - Option 1

Option 1: From your parent dashboard

These instructions explain how to access a proficiency report for a child in your family for any subject.

Log in to your parent account and ensure you have selected ‘Overview’ from the menu at the top

How to view proficiency data - Option 2

Option 2: From the reports tab

These instructions will explain how to view proficiency data for children in your family.

Click ‘Reports’ at the top of your parent dashboard

How to understand proficiency data

This explanation refers to the proficiency charts given when following Option 1 and clicking proficiency chart or Option 2.

What does the proficiency chart show?

Along each line, you’ll see a series of shapes representing the skills that the student has completed. Click the shape to see a summary of the skill and when it was completed. For more details, including its curriculum correlation, click the triangle next to the skill name to expand.

How do we calculate proficiency data for a chart overview?

We calculate a student’s proficiency as the proportion of that grade/year’s skills the student has completed. Skills that take longer to teach contribute more to proficiency than other skills. This is shown on the Y axis.
