Common questions on standards migration

There will be no change to the dashboard data and the data will update as normal.

Any skills completed prior to the migration will be cleared in both the proficiency chart and proficiency report. Only skills relating to the updated standards will be displayed in the proficiency chart and report.

The reason for this is that the updated curriculum would have rearranged the steps within the standards. Don’t worry as any progress captured on your students’ account prior to the updates will not be lost. Instead they will be converted and count towards the updated standards steps.

You and your students might notice that the students’ current focus skill has changed with the updated standards. This is because the skill being worked on previously will no longer exist in the updated standards. Don’t worry their current focus skill will be on the same level as their previous focus skill.

Any hard skills acquired while working on Sumdog prior to the launch of the updated standards will be cleared from your students’ account. The reason for this is that those skills will no longer be available in the updated standards for your students to revise.

In the class report data such as Time on Sumdog, Coins earned and Animal ranks will not be affected by the updated standards. You might however notice some changes in the figures when viewing the reports on:

• Time on Sumdog
• Questions answered
• Correct answers
• Accuracy
• Speed
• Skill status

This is because the steps within those reports would have been moved and realigned in the updated standards.

If you would like to keep a record of any past data prior to your standards update you would need to export the data from Sumdog. You will be able to export any class report data.

In the event, there is not an option to export the current data you could take a screenshot of the page and save the image for reference. You will need to do this before your standards update take place.

Unfortunately, this is not possible. With the updated standards the steps within a skill would have been moved to align them with the updated standards. This means that any prior skills on Sumdog would no longer exist.

Any work done prior to the standards update would still be captured on your students’ accounts and instead matched with the strands within the updated standards.

There will be no change to your students’ existing diagnostic score.

Your students’ diagnostic results will be migrated over to the new standards and you will still be able to view the diagnostic report as normal.
It might still be good to export a copy of the results prior to your migration date.

It would be advisable to export a copy of the maths diagnostic results prior to your migration date.

You will still be able to access any past activity results on and after your standards migration.

If you have set either a challenge or competition that ends before your migration date there will be no changes to the activity.

However, if your challenge or competition was set prior to your migration date and is currently running during and after that period the skills selected in that activity will not appear when your students are answering the questions. This is because the skills would no longer be available in the updated standards.

It is advisable that you do not set a challenge or competition to run during that period instead you should create the activity after the updated standards are launched. If you have set any challenge or competition that is running during that period it is best to have it end before your migration date.

Any existing assessment will not be affected.

However, if your assessment was set prior to the migration and is currently running when the standards are updated, the skills or words selected in that activity will not appear when your students are answering the questions. This is because the assessments are standards-associated.

It is advisable that you do not set a challenge or competition to run during the week of the curriculum update. Instead, you should create the activity after the updated maths standards are launched. If you have set any assessments that are running during that period it is best to have them end before your migration.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to repeat past assessments as any custom assessments you have created are not associated with the new standards. If you would like to repeat an assessment that was created prior to migration you will need to reselect the skills that you used previously.

The only change your students might notice is a change to their focus skill. On their dashboard, if they are working on Maths Training their focus skill will appear similar to the above image.

There will not be any other change to your students’ accounts.

Your students will not lose any past progress. They however might see a change to their current focus skills. Their focus skill will be based on the updated standards.

No, pets and pet tricks will not be affected.
