How to change students’ grade/year group
At the start of each school year, Sumdog will automatically move the students up a grade/year level (this will be done on 1 August). This will be the grade/year level reflected on their profile.
These instructions will explain how to change the grade/year group of a class of students. This will not affect which skills students work on in Sumdog as this is set by their diagnostic results.

Select ‘Settings’ at the top of your teacher dashboard

Click ‘MANAGE’ in the Manage students box

Click all the students whose grade you are changing or click ‘Select multiple students’ at the bottom of the class.
If you would only like to change the grade/year group for one student, click on their name and then ‘Edit details’ to change the grade/year group

Click ‘Set grade/year group’

Select the new grade/year level for the selected students from the drop-down list.
Click ‘Set grade/year group’ to confirm
How to set a min/max grade/year level for students
These instructions explain how to set a min/max grade/year level for students to work on.
The purpose of Sumdog’s diagnostic tool is to place students at the right level based on their ability. However, if the student was distracted during the diagnostic or an older sibling helped during the diagnostic, students may be placed on an incorrect level. If this is the case you should reset the student’s diagnostic.
However, you can also set a minimum and maximum grade/year level for your class. This means that students will only be asked questions within the set grade/year level regardless of their current diagnostic score. These restrictions will apply during school hours until the end of the school year or until the restrictions have been removed.

Click ‘Set work’ at the top of your teacher dashboard

Select the ‘Live controls’ tab

Click ‘RESTRICT’ in the ‘Restrict Level’ box

Select the subject you would like to restrict. Click ‘Next’

Select the class or classes.
If you would like to set it for other classes in your school, use the Student filters on the left and tick ‘All year groups’. This will then display all the classes in the school.
Click ‘Next’.

Select the Minimum and Maximum grade/year from the drop-down list.
Click ‘Set grade/Set level’ to confirm
