School leader toolkit explained
The school leader toolkit allows you to generate reports which compare various metrics between classes, groups or year group. For example, they provide information on:
- Activity of your classes each week over a given time period
- An activity summary for different time periods
- Hard skills
- Student level
- Proficiency
- Skills by grade
- Fact families
The data in the school leader toolkit report are a class/year group average. If you would like to view a report for an individual class/group/particular students, click here for more information.

How to understand administrator reports metrics
This guide explains what each of the metrics you can choose to add to the report mean.
Activity by week
This report lets you view various metrics over 7 days, weeks or months. You can view this as a table or a bar chart.
You can view the following averages for each class in your school:
- Students played
- Average time on Sumdog
- Average questions answered
- Average correct answers
- Average accuracy
- Average skills
The data is this report will be an average, unfortunately the report will not show you a class/year level total.
Activity summary
You can run an activity summary to see class averages over a period of time. The summary will show you for each class:
- Average skills completed
- Average time on Sumdog
- Average questions answered
- Average accuracy
- Average Proficiency difference between your chosen period of time
- Average proficiency score
- Students played
- Average correct answers
Hard skills
See how many students in each class are struggling with particular skills.
Hard skills are assigned when students find a skill difficult, Sumdog skips it and comes back to it later.
A skill is marked as Hard is a student has less than a 50% accuracy in the skill or step within the skill. Some skills which are fluency based will also require a student to have an average answer speed of 6 seconds or faster. With the fluency skills if a student takes to long to answer they might also be marked as a Hard skill
Student on level
This report shows you if your classes are behind, on track or ahead of where they should be in the curriculum according to how far you are through the school year.
It will compare where you are in the school year, where they should be at that point, and where the class is working now. If your classes are behind or forward, it will show you by how many months.
This report will be based on the students’ diagnostic score and how far they are in their skill plan based on their skill progression while working on the skills set by Sumdog.
If a teacher has set specific skills for their students as part of a challenge or another activity those skills will not appear in this report.
Proficiency
Proficiency is how far through the curriculum your students are. Data is displayed in two ways:
1. Growth: View the average proficiency growth over a period of time
2. Score: View the average proficiency score over a period of time.
Skills by grade
View how many students in each class have completed particular skills. You can choose to see this as a percentage or as a number of students complete. View it as a table or use our traffic lights.
Traffic lights present how many students have completed the skill as pie charts. Hover over the chart to see both the number and the percentage.
