Training mode explained
Once a student has completed their diagnostic, they will work through their skill plan (based on their diagnostic score) while in Training mode. Students must be in Training mode to progress through the skill plan.
The diagnostic tool will help place the student in their ability level based on their diagnostic score. You can find more information about the diagnostic tool here.
How to play games in training mode as a student
These instructions explain how to play games in training mode as a student. Playing games in training mode allows students to work on their focus skill and work through their skill plan.

From the students dashboard, click on the ‘TASKS’ box

Click ‘(Subject) Training’

Click ‘Start’

Select a game to play and click start on that game. The questions asked will be based on the student’s focus skill.
How to restrict students to work in training mode
These instructions explain how to restrict your students to only work in training mode for 1 hour.
This allows students to practice skills on their skill plan as identified by the diagnostic score.

Select which class/group you would like to restrict using the drop down menu

Click on ‘Set work’ at the top of your teacher dashboard

Select ‘Live controls’

Click on ‘RESTRICT’ in the ‘Focus Work’ box

Tick ‘Training’ to restrict your students to only work on that activity for an hour. (You can select more than one activity to restrict your students to)

Click ‘Restrict’ at the bottom right to confirm.
Now when your students access their accounts they will only be able to work on the activities you have restricted them to
How to select skills to work on in training mode as a student
Before your students can choose their own skills they need to complete their diagnostic.
These instructions explain how a student can choose which skills they practice in training mode once they have completed their diagnostic.

Click the ‘TASKS’ box

Click ‘(Subject) Training’

Click ‘Preparing for…’

Click ‘Choose skills’

Click the skills to work on.
Completing skills with an animal icon on the right will earn a pet trick

Click ‘Next’

Click ‘PLAY GAMES’

Ensure select subject training mode is selected from the tasks list and click ‘Start’

Select a game to play. The question asked in the game will be based on the selected skill.
How to allow/prevent your class from being able to select skills to work on in training mode
These instructions explain how to allow/prevent the students in your class from being able to select skills to work on in training mode.

Select which class/group you would like to restrict using the drop down menu

Click on ‘Set work’ at the top of your teacher dashboard

Select ‘Live controls’

Use the ‘Yes/No’ toggle in the ‘Students’ choice’ box to allow or prevent your students from choosing their own skills during school time

Click ‘Settings’ at the top of the teacher dashboard

Click ‘CHANGE’ in the School details box

Click ‘Change’ under the ‘Student skill choice’ and choose to either ‘Allow’ or ‘Prevent’ students from being allowed to choose their own skills in training mode
